Swimmers

Question Posted Tuesday September 19 2006, 12:15 pm

I know that swimmers need to watch what they eat but, what are good foods for a swimmer to eat? I've been searching, but I cant find any sites with recipes or anything.

I was on my school swim team. Well swimming does burn off carbs. So eat anything really i mean not endlessly junk food, pop, candy, chocolate

eat normally.

cereal and toast and orange juice for breakfast
a chicken sandwich, pop, and a fruit for lunch
and dinner just eat what your parents make you.

just try to be healthy but make your meal worthwhile so you wont end up way to full or still hungry.

hope i helped!

I've been on my school swim team for four years now. We have insanely intense practices but I've never heard of a "swimmer's diet". If fact, I don't think there IS a swimmer diet.
Regardless, you should eat a LOT because your body burns an incredible amount of calories when you swim. My best advice is simply to eat anything, but eat healthy. Eat plenty of protein(meat) and carbs(bread, pasta), but make sure you stay balanced with veggies and fruit. My personal favorite is to have a banana with lunch simply because it is light and healthy. Plus, it prevents you from getting cramps in the water.

I'd say your only real diet concern would be to eat universally healthy and to refrain from eating for a while before swimming or you could get a bad stomache. Keep away from the junk food.

Good Luck
