If Crisco is made entirely of vegetable oil and butter is unattainable, can you lightly paint the pan with pure vegetable oil itself.. and then flour it?
Additional info, added Tuesday September 19 2006, 9:38 am: Well, I'm not baking a cake right now. Curiousity just got to me. I'm asking about vegetable oil, specifically, for me future reference.. cakes and stuff. BUT, that isn't what you asked. :)
You can use any shortening on your pan. I use the spray on kind myself. I have been known to use whatever cooking oil I have on hand too. It makes
no difference at all. Just rub it on with a paper towel or something and it will work fine. [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
