Being that you're only 13 years old you need to think about how much you want to be dedicated as a career vs a hobby. Your parents number one concern is going to be your education. Starting out your best thing is community theater. This will help you build a resume & perfect your talent.

The entertainment business is nothing but rejection. You will need to form a solid core for yourself. You need to be able to walk into a room & think you own it...the confidence is what will drive as much as talent.

Modeling is a bit simpler (depending on what style modeling you want to get into) to start being that your young. You will need a portfolio. This is a compulation of photos (professional looking, not snap shots taken around the house)that could be used for marketing. If you can't afford to hire a photographer, then find someone you know who's how to take really good pictures. There's a great website out: www.modelmayhem.com
It's set up like myspace.com, it's free & intended for serious models looking for work.

Both fields you should get a headshot. Keep your eyes open for opportunites through department stores (modeling their clothes). DO NOT accept any offers from people that say they can help you get work if you pay them & certainly do not travel to an unfamiliar place without checking the background of the business.

A note to always remember if in the future you decide to get an agent (not needed until you're wanting to go on TV shows or movies) a real licenced agent will not see any profits until your 1st paycheck. You don't pay any money up front. There are loopholes through that & it's usually regarding photoshoots. However that can be avoided too.

Think small & work your way. Best of luck!

It seems to me that you are more concerned with becomming "famous" than pursuing a successful acting career, in which case, I say to you: STOP NOW! The world is too full of Paris Hilton's. However, if I am incorrect, and you are truly interested in a career in acting, I suggest you start locally: get involved in your high school theater program and talk to the sponsor about oppurtunities outside of the school. Audition locally for small community theater productions and work on making connections that can help you "step up the ladder" later in life.

Then, go drink some coffee.

In order to be in the buisness doesnt mean how pretty you are. modeling could be the case but not acting. you need to look like the charecter they are trying to create. sometimes you could be the best actor in the world but not fit the part so you wont get it. acting is all about rejection. you need to get an agent or manager and headshots. make sure your serious in this buisness before oyu get either of them....headshots are EXPENSIVE and agents dont cost a thing. if they get you work they take 10% of what you make. xoxo
