long or short depends on your preference. also, it depends on the dress code for the dance. i remember the first high school i went to had a semi- formal dance, which meant it was a little less dressier than prom. but when i came to the high school im at now, they all wear jeans and halter tops and such, and it was completely the opposite of where i had come from. be sure to check up with people at school as to how formal the occassion is. i got my homecoming dress at DEB. and it was gorgeous. pink halter- uneven hemline around my calves, and it was real sparkly.

For homecoming, your dress should be knee length. I usually get mine from Macy's, but windsorstore.com is good too. They also have really good stick-on bras- for strapless dresses...[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
