Math teacher

Question Posted Sunday September 3 2006, 1:07 pm

I got put into algebra 1 and passed the test to stay in there. But honesty, I'm no good at math so I dont know how I got in there. I had Fs only because of low test scores. The quiz had so much on it and I kept forgetting everything.

So obviously, I'm retaking the class. But my teacher isn't helping at all.

She keeps giving us homework, we do it and in class, she goes over it. Row by row, somebody answers and if that somebody gets it wrong... they go up and do the problem. Nobody can hear what's being explained and I'm all confused.

There is no NOTES or warm up problems that we go over. I can't get out of my class because it will mess up my whole scedule and I need those classes at those times [or i dont get them at all].

She never stays after school and at lunch, her room is closed.

What can I do? Is there any websites about pre-algebra review and algebra 1 stuff?

If I fail my quiz, I'll be loaded with MORE homework and I'm already struggling enough.

Go up to her and ask her for help. For a long time I was to scared to raise my hand and ask for help because I thought I would feel stupid or the teacher would make me feel stupid. Most likly she will help you. If she doesn't there are alot of other things. When I was in Middle school I was struggling some so I got a tutoring Sylvan My score bounced up fast. And there are always your friends and you parents to help and theres the internet and If worse comes to worse just switch out.

i've had a teacher like this. it's not fun. im not good with math myself soo yeah. you can use www.sparknotes.com & search for what you're looking for. you should really try talking to your teacher about it. i know you said she's not there after school/lunch, but in the beginning/end of class try going up to her & tell her you're extremely lost & need help. if she doesn't fix it, go to your guidance counsler & explain the situation. you have to be open & honest about how you feel. you obviously can't go through the year failing.

-hope that helped!♥
