I'm thinking of going natural. No makeup or lots of hairspray.
-Would that make my skin texture better? [My pores look huge around my nose, not on my nose.]
-Would it make my acne go away? [My old acne]
For some reason I'm not getting new acne, it's just these red bumps on my face that have been there..for weeks. Anything I can do to get them to go away? [No proactive, please.]
I also want healthier hair. It's damaged I'm sure. It was bleached. I use "Pantene Pro-V Restoratives." Does it really work? Any products or any tips for anything will be helpful.
I won't rate low because you didn't answer all my little questions in here.
I just want healthier looking skin and hair. :]
Thankssss.
I can't help with the hair issue. My hair is in great shape and I believe that it's because I never put any styling products in it while it's wet and blow dry it. I used to do this when I was younger and my hair was very dry and brittle. Now I just blow it dry for a few minutes and use a bit of hairspray.
I can be more helpful when it comes to skin. First, there is no way to "shrink" pores. A lot of products make this claim and it's just not possible. The best thing to do is to make sure you keep your pores clean so that dirt and oil don't make them appear larger. Clogging your pores can also actually make them bigger, because the cell wall can stretch if it's continually clogged.
Also, if you use a gentle exfoliator you will notice and immediate difference in the apperance of your pores and skin texture. I know a lot of people like to use natural products, but when it comes to an exfoliating scrub, you need something that is man made. Natural scrubs are usually ground up seeds or fruit pits, and their edges are jagged. They are so harsh that they can make your skin worse by aggrivating your skin's natural defense system which will cause redness. Instead, look for something that is a sphere so that you won't irritate your skin further.
Your acne doesn't sound like acne at all. If it's red and mostly on your cheek area it's probably rosacea. Especially the fact that it's not going away. If you can, go see a dermatologist because rocacea is chronic and over time if it's untreated your skin can thicken (mostly on the nose area) and you will be left with thick calloused looking skin.
As for whether or not to wear makeup, that is your personal choice. Makeup today is designed to help your skin. Pollution and the decaying ozone are increasing more rapidly than our bodies can evolve to protect ourselves from it. Most makeups (foundation specifically) contain sunscreen, vitamins and antioxidants which are essential to just be healthy---forget about even preventing wrinkles, which is just an added bonus. SPF and antioxidants are the key to making sure you don't get skin cancer.
That doesn't mean you have to wear makeup to be protected. You can wear a moisturizer with sunscreen and with antioxidents.
Just don't believe the myth that makeup is bad for your skin. The only time it's bad is when you don't take it off at night and when you wear something that is not made for your skin type, like if you have oily skin and you wear something with oil in it. That can cause you to break out. Hormones also cause breakout, and unfortunately there is almost nothing you can do about it without taking a prescription.
I do agree, however, with never using the same dirty washcloth twice, cleaning your pillowcase every few days, and drinking a lot of water. Also, make sure you use a moisturizer that is appropriate for your skin type. I would suggest something that is oil free, and if you have oily skin, find something that is oil-controlling.
one_for_all answered Saturday September 2 2006, 3:27 pm: Theres this really awesome Dove face wash which gets rid of acne fast and it makes your face super soft. Also for damaged hair, conditioning it, and using good shampoo helps a lot. You may want to consider cutting or triming your damaged hair, that helps it get better too.
GOOD LUCK!! [ one_for_all's advice column | Ask one_for_all A Question ]
illdomybest answered Friday September 1 2006, 1:31 am: first ill tell you what ive heard ive heard drinking water is really good for your skin. ill tell you what i use i use clean and clear astringent and their oxy foam wash for my face and neutrogena for my body. both seem to bee good products. i dont believe in the shampoos that say they restore this and that. i use that revlon color kit with hight lights and wash my hair with herbal essence and it stays shiny andd nice. maybe it the way you color your hair to some cheap hair color brands just arent up to snuff in looks. my suggestion for you if youve tryed the above for your skin is to see a dermatologist.(skin doctor) [ illdomybest's advice column | Ask illdomybest A Question ]
ductape_n_roses answered Thursday August 31 2006, 10:26 pm: For hair. Frutice works really really well. And bleaching your hair definately damaged your hair. You should just go with your natural hair color or just have it go a lighter shade with just a hair dye. Frutice products are really really good and smells good too =D. And blow drying, straighteners, steer away. They damage the hair too.And hair products from the stores. They take more than they give in the long run. And they damage hair right away. So try and go to the salon a lot.
About your skin. Of course make up damages your skin. IT gives it an unhealthy look, can enlargen pores, makes your skin break out, give you wrinkles, etc. Most IMPORTANT rule: (okay, two) 1)Never use acne products either form stores, perscribed by dermatologists (oral or ont). They'll destory you internally and externally. 2)Neveruse lemon juice. Unless you put on a pound of sunscreen on your face, cuz you will have brown spots where the lemon juice was applied (it burns/tans faster)
Just change your pillow and towels everyday. Use a face cloth or cotton pads to wash your face. Use CETAPHIL. I love that soap. It's gentle and smooths your skin. When you use lotions and stuff to put on your face, make sure it says Oil free or Won't clog pores
Green tea really really really helps. Mix green tea and water. Cool it to room temp.Dunk cotton pads or face cloth in there and put it over your face every night 10-15min (re soaking it every 3min or so)
It'll smooth out your skin, make the pore smaller, make your face look flawless while getting rid of acne. It's gonna work slowly but you'll see the result withint 3-4 nights.
lianaliana1 answered Thursday August 31 2006, 9:58 pm: If you've been wearing concealer or some sort of blush, your skin will definitely be better off without it. For your skin I reccomend using "Oil Free Acne Wash" by Neutrogena, and St. Ives Apricot Scrub. Once a week you could also use a face mask to help with your pores such as Clear Pore Cleanser/mask by neutrogena. And I'm pretty sure that Pantene shampoo will help, but you might want to try the Tresse'me brand, it's good.
HyperMickiHAhe answered Thursday August 31 2006, 9:49 pm: not sure bout the pores. maybe a face wash with micro beads. and yes. makeup clogs, makin them bigger so yeah. itll help. also, you should use a conditioner that is also restorative. it WILL help. my hair was breakin off after i died it and it helped perfect. also, use acne pads to make the old acne go away. sure hope i helped!
LM answered Thursday August 31 2006, 8:16 pm: No makeup definitely won't hurt anything. Most makeup, speciically foundations, are formulated to be non comedegonic. I know I didn't spell that right, but it means "won't clog pores". Neutrogena even has foundation with salicylic acid in it, so it actually treats acne as you're covering it up. I haven't used this particular product, but I have used Maybelline pure makeup, and it looks PERFECTLY natural. It's absolutely idiot-proof because it's 50% water (it blends flawlessly) and never looks fake.
For those days you MUST wear eyeshadow (or whatever) go with a neutral tone like brown, tan, white, pink, et cetera. It won't "pop" as much and will look more natural. And for lips, Chapstick never fails. Chapstick rules =)
For healthier hair, trim the ends (it'll keep hair from splitting further) use a nice shampoo like the one you have now, and do a hair mask a couple times a week. Pantene Restoratives makes one, or you can use olive oil and lavender essential oil, which is going the "natural" route. (about a quarter cup of oil, and 2-3 drops of lavender, microwave for about thirty seconds; wash out with clarifying shampoo).
Instead of hairspray, use a little lemon juice in a bottle. Keep it in the fridge in a spray bottle, and it'll last longer.
