Virus

Question Posted Wednesday August 30 2006, 5:39 pm

I have one of those AIM virues that sends everyone IMs with links and stuff. Well, I've ran my viruse scan like, I don't know, 8 times and it didn't catch it. So how am I supposed to get rid or it?

If I delete AIM off my computer and redownload it, will that get rid of it?

Uhhh...I have a crap more things on my computer that I need than just pictures. I'd rather not have to delete everything, if possible..

no no no no no! don't waste your time deleting it and redownloading it! i had the SAME EXACT problem. you said that you have virus scans. i have McAfee and whenever the IM came up i would get an alert from McAfee saying that a program wanted access to the internet. and i found out the name of the virus and then searched for it on my computer and deleted it manually. do you ever get those alerts? well the name of the virus that was on my computer was "rcss.exe", so then all you need to do is search for it on your computer. you can do this by right clicking on the START menu and choose "search" then type in the name of the virus and hit search. then delete the file once the search is complete.

i hope that works for you :]

Oh no, no, no, no, no. If it is simply a link that is mysteriously passing itself around on your buddylist, you do not have to wipe your whole machine clean. The solution is incredibly simple.

You need a certain AIM virus detector. I have a link you can nuke it with: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

Go there, and just click "DOWNLOAD". It's 100% free. It downloads in seconds, and it does not force you into downloading any extra baggage.

Once it's downloaded, save it to your Desktop (just so it's easy to find), and run the program. It will kick you off AIM (for about 10-14 seconds), while it scans AIM for this virus.

Once deleted, you can sign right back on. It's specifically an AIM virus detector. I've used it before, and it fixed my problem on numerous occassions.

Also, it wouldn't be a bad idea to pass that along to your friends, just incase they clicked it, too. :]

yea i got that too. sucks doesnt it?

i had to have my dad save all my pictures on a disk, and then he deleted everything else, rebooted it, and installed my pics back on from the cd. thats all you can do because that virus is one hard bitch to crack.

good luck.
