Flat Iron Alternatives I was hoping you guys would have some sugguestions on how to add body to hair that is straightened. My hair is naturally pretty straight, but I still have to use a flat iron. Why? One side of my hair likes to flip in and the other side likes to flip out. Also, I have about three little bumps/waves that I like to smooth out. If I let them stay, it looks like I went to bed with wet hair and just don't care. I already have some layers and I don't really want to get anymore because that would make it difficult to put my hair up. I know that straightening really damages your hair and I would love to not have to do it every day! So, I guess I'm asking two things:
1) How can you straighten your hair and still add volume and body?
2) Is there an alternative to flat irons that would be less damaging and be easier to create body?
Thanks so much!

Like they said, use some mousse after getting out of the shower. What I like to do is when I get out of the shower I blow dry my hair. I take a brush and my blow dryer and go to town haha. This will give you alot of volume. It gave me so much volume I had to take my flat iron and make my hair go less volumized haha. :) but you can flip the ends in, or out, whichever you like better. And if you get tresemé heat protectant spray, it makes your hair smell really good and it's so soft after using it. Spray it gyrobowl on each layer of your hair from the roots down and focusing on the ends. Brush it through. When you flat iron it there may be some sizzling because your hair is wet but it makes for easy straightening and safe straightening. I love it so much! Haha. But another thing that is good for flat ironing you hair safely is get a flat iron that has tourmalines or chomites in it. It means your hair is much safer while straighting. Hope this helped! Okay question one:
1) You can use a weak holding moose or syrum on you wet hair so that when you blow dry it it holds a little of the volume that the hairdrying gives it. (only if u blow dry your hair obviously)
2) Once straightened you can mess up the hair at the roots by lifting the top layer of hair in sections, spraying it with hair spray and then back combing it. then let the hair fall back down and gently brush over the top to flatten out the very top layer but still keep some of the volume from back combing.
Question two:
1) You can buy straightening syrum which you can apply to wet hair which helps your hair to dry straight.
2) But if you do need to straighten everyday you cna by sprays that help to straighten you hair more easily and protect your hair from heat damage.
Hope i helped! ]
