What Should I Play?

Question Posted Wednesday August 23 2006, 6:31 pm

I just finished my "popular" style song for my piano lessons. My only problem is...
WHAT SHOULD I PICK NEXT??

I don't like classical style much. I like really any kind of top 40 music, rock, alt., movies, anything but country really (sorry country people!)

I've been playing for seven years so "toughness" is no issue.
What are some songs (not necessarily just for piano... even songs like Dirty Little Secret that's been transcribed into piano form) that would be cool to play/hear on the piano?

Thanks!!!

Try some of these songs:

"Soliloquy" by Dropping Daylight
"Let It Be" by The Beatles
"Goodbye Song" by New Found Glory
"Bright Lights by Matchbox 20
"Imagine" by John Lennon
"My Immortal" by Evanescence
"Sometimes I Just Go For It" by The Used
"Existensialism On Prom Night" by Straylight Run
"Here In My Room" by Incubus

I've played all of these songs on piano before, and I couldn't find sheet music for some of them, but they're pretty easy to learn by ear.
I also highly recommend anything by Something Corporate or Jack's Mannequin. This website has sheet music for most of their songs.

You could also try playing theme songs from movies, like songs from Pirates of the Carribean and such. The theme song from the movie Corpse Bride, called Victor's Piano Solo, is really pretty. Go to musicnotes.com and see the staff's picks, the most popular sheet music, etc. They have a lot of good sheet music there. =)

theres a group called Evanescence and they have really good songs that you can choose from.but the best one is they're song "My Immortal" and they have songs that would be good like "Bring Me To Life" "Missing" "Taking Over Me" "Going Under" "Everybody's Fool" and so much more.and you could do "How Could This Happen To Me" by Simple Plan.maybe you could do some Red Hot Chili Peppers songs.
hope i helped.
