Ok, lets say a girl has a lot of hair. Like she has really bad sideburns like a guy would, and a really thick mustache and she grows hair on and under her chin and on her neck like a beard. I heard that taking birth control pills would help hair like that to stop growing. Does anybody know if this is true? Thank you for all of your help. Any response is welcomed.

FrEe2bMe answered Wednesday August 23 2006, 4:02 pm: Excessive hair growth on a female in generally caused by a hormonal imbalance. Basically, as crappy as it sounds--some girls have more guy hormones. Yes, certain types of birth controls will aid with this--but not make it go away. There are a couple of solution--or rather, choices:
Waxing/Threading *DO NOT EVER SHAVE THE HAIR ON YOUR FACE*
Electrolosis--it is a bit more expensive
And lastly, laser treatments, but they are very costly and are not covered by your insurance.
After removing your hair there is a cream called Vaniqa. It doesn't eliminate hair it just SLOWLY stunts the hair growth.
My guess is if you are experiencing this problem you may have some other female issues. Such as: weight gain, irregular periods, acne, or possibly something called PCOS and etc.
As akward as it may be for you, your best bet would be to see a gynocologist so they can test your hormone levels.
