DVD Burner acting up, it sucks

Hey I got a 4X cd/dvd burner combo thing and its acting up. it usualy burns cds but when i try to burn anything on a dvd it sez "power calibration error" and wen i tried to move some files from a data dvd onto my hard drive it sed "buffer something" like uh...it couldnt buffer...anyone know if this is fixable or am i fucked?

I had this problem... it is the type of DVD media you're buying some brands of DVDs don't work with some DVD burners because I had had bought like a pack of Fuji media and it didn't work with my SONY burner so I used a different type like HP and then it started working... you can usually ask the person @ the store what media would work with your type of DVD burner.

A little googling leads me to believe that power calibration errors are usually doe to cheap cd/dvds. Try it with different media and see what happens. Get back to me if that doesn't work.
