I am wanting a sugar glider really really bad i love animals ive did reasearch and everything on them i dont know how to conince my mom to let me get one and im paying and everthing wat can i do. Oh and im 13 so if that helps i feel responsible enough but ive never had a pet so can anyone give suggestions on how to covince her. thankzzz
modelkate11 answered Tuesday August 1 2006, 11:51 am: i have one(her name is dakota). basically i just told my mom that i would pay for it. i bought a book about them and let her read it. they're not as much of a big deal to take care of as the books say. they live for a really long time so tell her that she wont be left with the responsibility after you move away and be true to your promise. they're really social animals and are fun to have. my sugar glider and my mom have become office buddies.(we have the cage in our office) but my dad and her just cant seem to become friends. lol. but anyway i think the most costly thing is buying fresh fruits and vegetables for them. dont try to convince your mom that you're ready for a pet by buying a gold fish because they die easily. maybe start with a hamster. thats what i did and she said that when the hamster died then i could get a sugar glider. and just to my luck the hamster lived 5yrs! which made my wait so much longer but it gave me extra time to save up for a cage and accessories. talk to your mom and tell her, you are 13 years old and you want this, and she should trust you to be able to handle this. also remember to tell her that you think you are old enough to handle this kind of resposiblity.

The page I read says they are clean and inexpensive to care for. Have you mentioned this to her?
Have you tried to print the information you have researched so she could read on them herself?
But something to consider in this is do you live somewhere that allows pets?
