Hes a bit too clingy

Question Posted Saturday July 29 2006, 5:41 pm

My name is Shannon, I'm female and I am 19 years old. I've recently started dating dating a guy who i have known for a while. He is a really nice guy but the only problem is, is he is too clingy. I dont wanna just stop datin this guy as this is the only problem. Ive spoken to him about it and he stopped it but i can gradually see it coming back. What should i do?

Well Shannon, I am a firm believer in being honest with how you feel.
Since that seems to be his only down-fall, I think you are right in continuing to date him.
So, if he starts to "cling" again, just remind him that though you really like being around him, you do still like to have some space.
Let him know that you don't mean to sound rude about it. It could be that he is so into you, that he can't help himself and don't realize he's being clingy and making you uncomfortable. Or it could be that he's that way because he doesn't know how else to be.
No matter what reason causes him to be clingy, it's not something that you guys can't work out. Just remember that your feelings are important to him, so let him know what's going on.
