Soundproofing

Question Posted Tuesday July 25 2006, 10:12 pm

Is there anyway to further soundproof a garage for a party from near by neighbors? Our double garage is cement block, with a door and 2 windows on each side. Thanks...

Ha this may seem a little funny, but trust me it works!

Out line the windows and doors with egg cartons! It will absorb the sound. Another thing to use if you can't get enough egg cartons is you put styrofoam all around, both things will work.

have fun at your partay, by the way I'm comming :]

Thick blankets and/or quilts help to absorb and muffle sound, but it might get hot...

Well, I think you should try to somehow get egg cartons up on the walls. If it's cement I doubt that you could nail them in, but possibly heavy duty masking tape would do the trick.

I found a few websites that tell you how to sound proof your garage. Now I know that you are just doing it for a party and my not be looking for a permanent addition. Read these articles and then you can call your local Home Depot or Lowes for supplies. You can purchase what you need and either store will cut it to your specifications if you need it and then tape it in place rather than plaster/drywall it (or however they do it professionally) I have a friend who did that and it didn't really cost all that much.
