The combined oral contraceptive pill is normally very effective, with only 0.2% per year which end up pregnant.
The progestogen only pill has has a higher failure rate of 2 to 8%.
Don't worry. and be sure to take them properly.
However, these can be the causes of your pill failing:
a stomach upset such as nausea and vomiting, when the Pill may not be properly absorbed into the system.
interaction with other drugs. Anti-epileptic drugs such as phenobarbitone and phenytoin and carbamazapine, griseofulvin (for fungal infections) and some broad spectrum antibiotics can all interfere with the efficacy of the combined contraceptive pill.
