How long do periods last?

Question Posted Thursday July 6 2006, 3:53 pm

I got my period about noon July 4. How long should my period last? I usually go a full 7 days. Is there anything to shorten myperiod or make it go faster? I've heard all kinds of things... Doing a lot of standing/jumping, drinking water, exercise, etc. Which of these are true?

I don't think those things are true, and you really need to talk to a gynacologyst. I won't pretend to be an expert..but you shoulden't do anything withought consulting a doctor, or at least your mom. I'm pretty sure only pregenacy and birth control can alter your period.

Serious athletes who train everyday, allday, are more likely to have shorter periods, that are less frequent. But you have to really be pushing your body in order for that to happen.
Periods vary with every person, usually between 4 and 6 days. If you are in pain, exercise, drinking water, and eating chocolate does help!

Varies with EVERY person.. but it is true that athletes who run a lot have shorter periods and not always even once a month, should probably start running now. It depends on your body but most periods last about 5 days, somewhere around there, some last 7 though.
