trojan horse

Question Posted Sunday July 2 2006, 1:15 pm

okay i have a virus on my computer & it's called 'downloader' & it's a trojan horse virus. i have norton & i scanned it many times & it detects that i have a virus (there's also a popup that never leaves unless i turn norton off) & it lets me quarrentine(sorry, sp) & delete it. after i do that, it says "there is still 1 infected file". why does it do that!! it lets me delete it but then its still there. i went to norton's site & it says how i could get rid of it myself, & you have to start it up in 'safemode' but that doesn't even work because i don't get a task bar in safemode for some reason. is there anyway i can delete this or do i have to dump my computer??

thanks!!

Well, you know this type of virus that you are describing is probably a Troajn.vundo or a Trojan.Hachillem or a Sonar.Heuristic.120 or a spyware.Go to the site below and follow the instructions below too.

6) Then press NORTON POWER ERASER (NPE)

Ok. First go get a new virus scanner from the internet. Try it. If you could give me the name of the downloader and trojan horse then i may be able to help you. You're probably haveing trouble finding the rootkit. A system restore is also possible. I would just keep trying the way the norton site says to delete it.

ok, Well, it sounds like you have done just about eveything you could & it won't go away for some reason. The only other things I can think of is to...1st, try system restore. It will take your computer back to a time before this happened. If that doesn't do it, maybe if you have the windows disk, you might have to reinstall your whole system over again. That will wipe out everything & basically you will start all over again. Just make sure you save things like your music & pictures & anything else you don't want to lose. Good Luck to ya!
