As for anything else, I know htis sounds totally stupid, but they actually have these toys where you pp[ut head phones on, and hold this thing up to the wall and you can hear. My friend's sister had it. It was so cool, haha. They probably have them at your local Toys R' Us! I guess you could use that.

Push it against the wall and stick your ear to it and it works quite well. However, the definition of the words is quite poor so you will hear the sound of voices louder but you have to work quite hard to figure out what is actually being said.
