first job interview

Question Posted Sunday June 25 2006, 6:23 pm

I'm 17 and I'm going for my first job interview. I've never been employed before. It's for a big store that I usually shop at, and I'm very nervous. Does anyone know what kind of questions the interviewer will ask me? What kind of clothing should I wear to the interview? I don't want to seem desperate & I don't want to say anything wrong.

Firsttt offf, i woudl wear black pants and a blouse, something professional looking, ya kno? And dont say "ya know" either, use proper english in whattever you say. The interveiwer will probably ask about prior work experiecne, why you want to work at that store, and questions along those lines. just look confident and like you are willing to take on the job, and dont look like a space-case. If they like your personality and think you are qualified, you are most likely in.

i know you shouldnt wear jeans b/c my sister worked retail and her boss said the only reason she got an interview is b/c she didnt wear jeans. so wear like black pants or khaki, so basically look nice! theyll ask you the basic questions and what you need to get across is that you are dedicated reliable and motivated to work hard! good luck!

Look smart.

As far as I'm concerned, being yourself is alright, but when you answer questions make sure you anwers as them positivly as you can whilst still being honest.

Usually interviewers will ask why you want the job, if you've ever done anything simmilar. If you hand them a CV they might ask questions related to that, like why did you chose to do xyz course, or why you like any of the hobbies you've put. I've always found that interviewers like to get a feel for the type of person you are, if you're reliable and what motivates you.

Sometimes the interviewer will show you the sort of stuff you'll be doing and ask to see you do it. Thats really mean I know, but it gives them an idea of how you cope under pressure as well as how suitable you are, so try and play it cool.

Try to relax, and be confident in yourself and what you can do, and always try to make eye contact when you're speaking directly, face to face.

Good luck!

Hi, the employer will probaly ask questions like:

1. Have you got any experience or qualifications?
2. What part would you like?
3. Have you worked for anyone else lately

stuff like that. As for clothing just go with a normal clean shirt and pants, not huddies, and make sure you have a wash and corm your hair. Be yourself, thats all you can be. Daniel.

Just be yourself. i know everyone is gonna say that but its true. they want to know you and sometimes they just get to know you first because they want to find out if your easy to work with. dont get nervous, which is hard i know. you might want to wear something nice but not formal, but yet again not too casual. hope i helped!
