Tracing legal? If you put a drawing on the internet that you traced on say deviantart.com is it legal as long as you specify where you traced from? Ex. You put your drawing up and in the description say "this was traced from [link]" I looked on their website and could not find anything about my question.

I'm actually a member of deviantart, and I'm positive it's illegal. You need the artist's written permission to use their artwork, then you have to credit them anyway. Don't trace art, though- it takes a lot of the art's credibility away and cheapens it. If the artist specifically gives you permission, you can use it with credit to them; if they say they don't want you using their art, then don't use it. If you do, the artist has the right to sue you for copyright infringement. ]
If you dont pass it off as your own, you should be fine. ]
You could, but I'd put it in scraps, not as a deviation. If you give credit where credit is due, then you aren't stealing art. ]
