Okay so, I'm 14 and I weigh 105 pounds [[i'm 5'1"]] I've never really had any issues with my weight or self esteem or anything but lately whenever I look in the mirror I feel super fat. So for around the past 4 months i've been cutting out the foods I don't need and i've been counting how many calories I consume daily. Well, it keeps getting lower and now I'm down to 600 a day. I don't know what's wrong with me but I think something might be wrong.. I keep telling myself that I'm going to not look at the calories in everything or that i'm going to eat more but then i'll look in the mirror and it'll all go down the drain and i'll start doing it again. I didn't really think much of all of this [[I just considered it dieting]] but then the other day my boyfriend came up to me and asked if I was sick because I was getting too skinny...[[i've lost 5 pounds in the past 2 days if that gives you any idea]] and ahh I just don't know what to do. So my question is; a.) Am I anorexic? and b.) if so, what should I do about it?
Any help would be great.

well, i always thought so
the end of 6th grade, i was 4'10, 100 lbs
over the 3 months from 6th-7th
i became 5'1 and 65 lbs
now, i never thought i was anerxic, i thought i looked so much better then i ever did before
but everyone was so worried about me
A) you arent anorexic, yet, but if you continue, you will be. B) TALK TO YOUR PARENTS OR A SCHOOL GUDIENCE PERSON! i know it sounds cliche, but you really need to!
oh, and congrats on such a great boyfriend for caring and noticing!
isis answered Sunday June 4 2006, 9:39 am: It sounds as though you may heading that way, but at least you have recognised this. You need to talk to a doctor as soon as you can, get a diet from them to get you back on track for eating more. If you try to do this by yourself you could make yourself feel really ill. You also need the extra support to get over this.
I would also suggest you avoid looking in mirrors until you have seen a doctor as this seems to be a trigger for the dieting. drap any long mirrors if you can and only look in head height ones.
Body Dismorphia is a very hard thing to deal with but if you get it early enough you stand an excellent chance of not causing any long term
damage.
Good luck to you, I do hope this works out well for you. [ isis's advice column | Ask isis A Question ]
Sherry answered Sunday June 4 2006, 12:26 am: Anoerexia is when you completly stop eating or have too little food (Like two grapes, slice of an apple). You have a problem but its not classified as anoerxia. It's a different type of eating disorder. if you really want help, I suggest telling an adult so you could visit a doctor. You cant just start eating a lot right away, that'll hurt you..you have to increase your calorie intake each day by 100 or so just so your body can get used to more food. I really suggest talking to your doctor about this. I hope everything works out, if you need to talk..I'm always here =) [ Sherry's advice column | Ask Sherry A Question ]
