Question Posted Saturday May 27 2006, 9:08 am

can exercising throw off your period?? i stopped playing basketball in december & then around march i juss ran & weightlifted so i was doing something. our practices started & we started playing basketball. 2 of the practices i started bleeding randomly & i'm a day off on my period, but i'm starting to get random pain in my armpits, bellybutton, leg, that feels like shooting pain kinda like before you get your period but it stopped. can exercising mess up your cycle??

Hey, yeah it actually does. Early in the softball season, that happened to me from exercising continuously. And no fears, your regular cycle will come back soon. Hope I helped!

YES,
when i was in track i didnt have my period the whole time, and as soon as i stopped i got it again. this happens to a lot of active girls, especially if you're skinny. it's because when you're so active it burns off all your calories and fat and everything you dont need, and if you're on the skinny or average side, you dont get your period if you dont have that fat. It also depends on how healthy you eat.
