Nose Job

Question Posted Wednesday May 24 2006, 8:05 pm

Hi, I'm 15 and I really want to get a rhinoplasty(nose job) for my sweet 16, which is coming up in a few weeks. My parents are saying that i'm too young and that my nose is fine(typical), but i'm really not comfortable with it. I'm filipino and you know how our noses are;). My question is should i wait until i'm older, or should i get one now? and are there any side effects? and is it possible to be fully sedated when it happens?

Yes, you will be fully sedated. You probably aren't too young for them to do the surgery, but maybe your parents think you're too young to be getting it. Think about it and if you really are that uncomfortable with your nose and you really think it's a good idea to do it now, then go for it. Good luck! happy almost birthday.

I think you should do what you think is right. If you really dislike your nose, you could talk to your parents, but just do what you think is right.

Please don't get plastic surgery. It's always a better indicator anyway that if you want something that permanent done to see if your desire for it lasts for longer than brief flash of time. Wait until you're at least 18 or 19 to seriously think about doing this... especially because your face is still changing and it has a chance of improving.

I agree with your parents on this one.. everyone's self-consious when they're a teenager. Having plastic surgery is a huge decision. I think you should at least wait until you turn 18. When you're legally an adult your parents can't tell you no, and you'll be in a better position to make the decision at that point.

When having a rhinoplasty, you will be fully sedated. There are side effects with every surgery that you undergo, but the biggest one in this case is probably being unsatisfied with the results after surgery.
