i have to memorize this poem by shel silverstein. no matter how hard i try, i just cant memorize it. or ill memorize it for 2 minutes and then i'll forget it. I CANT STAND THIS!! help meee
thspiral answered Sunday May 21 2006, 9:14 pm: When attempting to memorize something it is very helpful to have different parts of your brain activated. The following may sound odd, but take it from someone that survived advanced physiology and anatomy coursework, it works =)
When memorizing read out loud, this not only engages visual, but also auditory parts of the brain. Also at different times write the whole thing out and say the words as you finish each sentence. By activating the three areas of your brain you increas your odds of memorization.
Also something that has been shown to help with test taking and memorization, is small amounts of physical arousal, such as small amounts of caffine, or exercise.

I think you actually might have to like try and read things to memorize them. So just try to remember the poem by each line then put it all together. Hope this helps.
