When I met Mason and Sandra they were divorced. I'd have gone for Sandra, but Mason and I had hit it off well and became close friends. It turned out they got back together not much long later. I kept in touch with Mason, and tried not to let my feelings for Sandra get any stronger. Right after the birth of their first child, Mason was killed in a freak accident at work. Sandra came to me to help her with the baby and everything. After 2 years we started dating and got married. Then we had a son. Things were great when we were just friends but then we realized we liked each other a lot more and as soon as we got married everything changed. Her friends don't like me, she gets bored, she dreads sex, we fight over how to raise our son, she cries a lot, etc. I get real depressed because I catch her watching old home movies with Mason in them. I don't feel good enough. It's been 3 1/2 years since Mason died. Am I just horrible or is she just not over Mason? I hate being compared to him.
Additional info, added Monday May 22 2006, 10:44 am: Some of my friends warned me against marrying a girl with a lot of baggage. But after raising her daughter & falling in love with them both it was hard not to get involved. I actually thought marriage would make it more comfortable. Like we were a real family, ya know?. Why don't you two check out a good marriage therapist or counselor? It seem like you could use a little assistance in uncovering the issues and finding out what you and she can do to make things genuinely better. You don't need a fix-all solution or a marriage "band aid", you need real help to get back to the place you once were in. [ Tulipg17's advice column | Ask Tulipg17 A Question ]

I think she needs to see a doctor and maybe get some help getting over it all. It could also be she is suffering some sort of post partem depression ( you didn't mention how old your son is).
Before you give up have her see a doctor. The stress of all this is doing neither of you much good, and they may be able to help her. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
