period

Question Posted Thursday May 18 2006, 8:14 pm

okay i noticed that i was bleeding when i came home from practice tues & today. i don't get my period until later, but it wasn't "spotting" either. i'm not sure if it's from over-exercising er if something's wrong. my period isn't irregular but i have two workouts, weightlifting & basketball in a row. any idea what it is??

thanks!!

Here is a list of factors that can cause an irregular period (as you can see "overexcerise" is listed) your body may not be use to excerising so much. Wait a little bit and see what happens. If it continues to concern you talk to your doctor, they can give you more advice.

~Significant weight gain or loss
~Overexercise***
~Poor nutrition (or a diet too high in carbohydrates)
~Smoking
~Drug use
~Caffeine
~Excessive alcohol use (interfering with how the liver metabolizes estrogen and progesterone)
~Eating disorders
~Increased stress
~Polycystic ovarian syndrome/Estrogen dominance
~Uterine abnormalities (fibroids/cysts/polyps/endometriosis)
~Hormonal imbalances related to perimenopause

Periods are can be irregular until you become an adult. And since your working out a lot, your period might come faster. Don't worry about it, it's normal! =)
