Well I pulled my quad about 2 months ago and its been getting better until I pulled it again. Then it finally got better until a few days ago when it repulled. Now it feels like the muscle is displaced when I move my leg even though its not.
I have put ice on it, heat on it, but nothing seems to be helping. I also put icyhot on it.
I have a soccer game tomorrow and Its not bad enough to not play but its bad enough for it to hurt so I don't do as well.
or if you dont have time to go to a doctor, i would stretch it alot! thats what my doctor explained to me to do. also, see how you feel tomorrow, and elevate your quad area. that should help you, alot.
KELLY_ELIZABETH answered Friday May 12 2006, 6:43 pm: i dont think that you should be playing tommorrow. you can even make it worse if you pretend liek nothings wrong. you may irritate it. depending on how bad it is, quad injuries can effect your running and physical activities for 1-4 weeks. a quad injury usually results from a muscular imbalance between the quads and the hamstrings. the hamstrings over power the weaker quads which result in a strain or tear of the muscle.
i dont think you should be putting heat on it. ice is best. if thats too cold, put a wet/damp towel in the fridge and leave it in for a little. but for the best focused pain relief, do ice packs.
if there is any swelling try taking ibuprofen or motrin. but only take it with meals and not before running and such.
ofcorse, stretching will help. stand straight with your injured leg bent. grab the foot of your injured leg with your hand and slowly pull your heel to your butt. you should feel the stretch in the front of your thigh. Hold the stretch for 10 to 15 seconds. Repeat the stretch 6 to 8 times.
you can also try retro-running. it helps strengthen and stretch, and muscle in hamstring and quads. retro-running is walking or running backwards. it is important to start slowly with a slow walk and work your way to a gentle jog. choose a smooth, flat road or you can use a treadmill with handrails (for support). change your neck position often to help prevent strains and limit your retro running to two sessions per week- starting from 50 meters and progressing to 500 meters. strengthening the quads by doing biking and leg extensions will help to prevent future occurrences of the condition.
BRUNETTE__BABiE__CAKESZ answered Friday May 12 2006, 5:55 pm: hey, hold back on playing soccer. if anythingg its going to make your quad worse then it already is. sorry to give out the same answer -- but go to a doctors to see what wrong. also if you keep staying active on it, it may just get worse. also if see if one of your parents can take a look at it. cait♥ [ BRUNETTE__BABiE__CAKESZ's advice column | Ask BRUNETTE__BABiE__CAKESZ A Question ]
alliesadvice answered Friday May 12 2006, 5:28 pm: i know this is a generic answer but you should go to the doctors to make sure you didn't dislocate your leg, and i wouldnt play in the soccer game if i were you because you could make it worse =/
