Question Posted Thursday May 11 2006, 5:06 pm

me (13 yrs old) and my lil sis (10 years old) share a room and we also share a bathroom. well i was on my period and i use tampons and i threw the used tampon away in the trash can. later when my lil sis went to use the bathroom she saw the bloody tampon in the garbage and shes like maria whats this red thing in the garbage? and im like umm i gotta go ill tell you later. and i was wondering should i give her the talk about periods and puberty and stuff? or should i just let my mom handle it when she's older... i kinda wanna talk to her about it but is she too young? thanks for your help

I think you should first talk to your mom and ask her if it would be okay if you could talk to your sister about this. She is going to have to know what is is sooner or later and 10 is a good age to talk about this kind of stuff. Make sure and see if it's okay with your mom and then talk to her. She isn't too young though but I would wait until she's at least 11 but same difference.

wow, thats a tough situation. i think you should just tell her that it was blood out of your vagina and if she has anymore questions, that she should go to yuor mom. tell your mom what happened, and im sure she will be mroe than happy to talk to your sister. i dont think she is too young, but i dont think your the right person for her to learn everything from ( no offence ). but your mom may have a different opinion., so leave that up to your mom. next time maybe try wrapping it up in some toilet paper or something =P good luckk

hope this helps!! :] ♥
