My friend who is moving out from her crazy parents. It's a m

Question Posted Wednesday May 10 2006, 8:22 pm

My former best friend moved to a different town several months back and her parents have abused her verbally and physically since then. She can't live at home anymore and since she is 16 she's legally allowed to move out in our state. The problem is that her parents have made up so many lies and fed them to newspapers and everyone around, some saying that she's "brainwashed" or "mentally ill" just so she has to stay at home. They obviously do not care about her to make up such stories and she's deffinatly moving out. She doesn't really have anywhere to go for a month or so and I've been talking to my mom about it. Do you know ways to convince my parents that it will be safest if they just let her stay at our house for a little while?

Dear my anonymous friend,
First, I must say that I love the fact that you show concern for your friend, thats love. Well, to be honest with you, if you care for your friend just grab your parents and have a very mature convrsaton with them. Trust me, this gets you far. If you allow your parents to see the sincerity in your words they may consider you choice. But be patient thrugh it all. Your friends parents will get what they deserve. And when your friend gets older, and have kids of her own, she'll know not to treat her kid the same way. But, talk to your parents... Sit them down and talk to them.

Tell them exactly what your friend is going through and I'm sure they will want to help her out. She doesn't need to be treated so badly and just make your parents picture if that was you in her position. You would want someone to help you out. Just talk to them and let them know what's been going on.
