My Mother (God rest her) never wanted materialistic things. A good idea is to find an old photograph of you two, or an old picture that you drew when you were little and give that to her. If none of those things can be found, a cupon book (a book with little slips of paper that say that you'll give her a night off from laundry or something like that) works like a charm.

you can never go wrong with flowers for your mommy. or a little something you made, something creative. get an old shirt and paint it or something. sometimes the littlest things mean the most. also, orcorse - perfume.
