perm

Question Posted Wednesday May 3 2006, 4:16 pm

I'm thinking about getting a perm. If anyone has ever gotten one could you tell me if you liked it or not? Or the pros and cons of it. And what is more "in style" these days, straight or wavy hair?

i've had three perms. here are the pros and cons:
pros:
-less time spent on fixing your hair
-no heat applied to your hair (straighteners, curling irons etc.)
-you can still straighten it if you really want to though
-lasts 3-7 months (depends how fast your hair grows)

cons:
- the smell when it's first done
- frizz if you don't put in gel or hair products
- you have to use a comb rather than a brush
- once the perm grows out, your hair is curly at the bottom and the top is straight and clings to your head

but there's pros and cons on any style hair. if you do decide to get a perm, ask for different sized curls. some loose, some tight. bring in a picture of how you most want it to look, and the hair stylist can usually determine how loose or tight to make the curls. and if the perm doesn't turn out how you wanted it to, you can always get a relaxer put in it. but i hope you enjoy it!

Ok well i mean i have curly hair. and people think it's a perm but i have friends who have gotten perms but to me striaght it the style in the summer but there's other opinions plus i mean i can't straighten my hair everyday of the summer. but some pros and cons of a perm hmm let's see.

Good:
If you get a loose perm it's fun and energetic.
You can do many things with curly hair and it always looks pretty
Your hair's curly!

Bad:
You can't wash it right aftewards
It has a fowl smell for like week
You have to keep doing it if you want it curly
you can't brush it (like use a brush) u have to use a thick comb to come it through or your curls will loose it curliness.

but you can ask for loose or tight curls. I would get just a normal perm or a loose perm and you can straighten your hair if you have the patience to deal with all of the curls. but there is a bad thing about perms...your hair is pretty frizzy but i use Tresema frizz- gell which helps it a lot! but a good idea of after you do get out of the shower is to scrunch it with a towl and use smooth cream and just massage it in your curls and scrunch it with your fingers!

but curls look good on everyone..that's what i think!

Good luck!
