8th Grade Dance

Question Posted Tuesday April 25 2006, 9:45 pm

Ok so My school canceled my 8th grade dance this year we've always had one and now they took it way and everyone is pissed! including me and everyone has thought about doing something about the dance like making our own. like everyone paying a little money to rent a place, get a DJ, etc. but we dont know i was thinking about telling everyone to just sit in the gym and NOT MOVE untill they give us our dance back i mean they cant suspend us all lol but i was wondering if anyone else had any good ideas and dont say talk to your principal because we already tried that and she doesnt care. and we already tried getting everyone to sign a thing to get our dance back and she just threw it away please help al 8 graders in my school!

It would help if we knew why the dance was cancelled. Was it a legitimate concern or anything?

The best bet just might be to get your parents involved. Go over the principles head to the school superintendent or school board. Parents could be a big help.

If you know the excuse they are using add it to your question. Might get some better ideas. :)

Edit**************

Some kids being embarrassed just isn't a good excuse. As you said, if the dance isn't held during school hours, anyone not wanting to go could just stay home.

If you could get enough 8th grade parents together who would offer to chaperon the dance.
Maybe you could get the superintendent or school board members to out vote the principle.

they did that to the dance at my old school so what we did was got our princ. to agree that if we had the WHOLE 8th grade or the ones that are wanting to come to the dance to come to a school clean up day and when you came to school clean up you got a special ticket and you paid there... that way no one that didnt come clean could get in and we got the dance back. it shows how bad you want it and that your willing to earn it.
