on the area on the side you have like 10ish inches.

i know because my friend goes tanning.

this one girl only went twice, and she got moles so she went to the doctors and they said if she went tanning, or outside in the sun for a long time she would get cancer. not a "could" but she definitely would.

but whatever, you'll probably still go because 'it could never happen to me' but you know what? it could. but hey, have fun chemically treating your skin and inviting the cancer to soak into your pores.

and if you dont go tanning again then i congratulate you in your success in being able to think more seriously about your health.

The Short Answer:
Tanning in a salon is just as bad for you as the Sun. Use common sense when tanning. Three times may not hurt you. It depends on you as a person. The box DOES NOT prevent you from sun damage and DOES give you higher chances of skin cancer. Monitor your time and pay attention to the guidelines.

The Long, but much more informed Answer:

The harmful stuff is the UV rays. UV stands for ultraviolet radiation which is hitting the earth's surface at a given point in the day.

There are actually two types of UV rays: UVA and UVB. They're both bad.

Let's assume that the following DOES NOT apply to you:

*You have a Type 1 Skin Type (People with Skin Type 2 are advised to build up a tan VERY slowly with low exposure times.)
*You were badly sun burnt in childhood, or have a history of it.
* You have a large number of moles or freckles
* You have a medical condition that can be aggravated by UV exposure
* Your family has a history of skin cancer.
* You are pregnant.
* You are not taking any medications with Tetracycline, Thiazide, or Interferon
* Be careful with any medications used to treat depression, skin conditions, and diabetes.

So now that's out of the way.

Experts have recommended that we stick to no more than 20 sessions a year on the tanning bed (the International agreed Standard recommends no more than 50.) So pay attention to your baking time.

Make sure to have at least a 48 hour break between sessions.

Keep Watch:
Check and lookout for any abnormal skin reactions that occur during your tanning sessions. As soon as you notice anything or even suspect a problem stop the exposure straight away and consult a doctor or dermatologist. Moles especially should be watched and checked regularly by your doctor.

!!!Protect Your Eyes!!!
All tanning beds need to be used with eye goggles to protect the eye from the UV light. For a safe tan these need to be worn at all times from the very moment the machine is switched on. Merely closing your eyes will not shield them and WILL result in serious damage to you eyes. Really, they may look silly, but it will hurt SO bad if you don't wear them.

Any questions you have can be easily answered with a call to your doctor's office.

Don't really feel like tanning anymore? The sunless tanners won't always turn you orange. The orange comes with people who don't do it correctly. Check out sunless.com for reviews and info.
