I am wondering why Planned Parenthood is telling me my tests are negative my period was 1 week late and then March 19th I got a spotting for one day then stopped. Ever since then I have been getting stomach pains not spotting at all.. Getting migranes and dizziness, My breasts are sore once and a while. Am I pregnant or Not? Ive been going to the Docters and they told me that they wont take a blood test because it was negative when they took a urine test. Can you please tell me whats up? I am going insane. Thanks.
Peeps answered Friday August 8 2008, 3:52 pm: Planned Parenthood did a pregnancy test on you and you came back negative for pregnancy. You did not have the hormone, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), in your body that distinguishes pregnant woman from non-pregnant women.
It could have been that you had the test taken way too early or that something is not right with the pregnancy. Sometimes tests show negative if the baby is actually forming in the wrong area of the body.
An ectopic pregnancy means that the egg was fertilized in the fallopian tubes and attached there as well. This can throw testing off dramatically and show you not being pregnant on urine tests for the entire pregnancy. This sort of pregnancy is highly dangerous and can cause the tube to rupture, killing you and the unborn baby. These sort of pregnancies usually cause pain/discomfort in the lower region because the baby begins stretching the tubes out. You may want to speak to your doctor about the pain and suggest an ultrasound be done on the area (pain can also be from cysts and such so an ultrasound is just a good safety measure anyway).
I'm not sure why your doctor refuses to do a blood test but try to make an appointment specifically for a blood test for pregnancy. You may also request for a pelvic exam, as it would surely tell if you are pregnant or not and it's typical testing procedure anyway.
After you have sex you actually do not instantly become pregnant--it can take days before the sperm find and fertilize the egg and then another 6 - 10 days for the egg to actually attach to your uterine wall. Sperm can live in your body for a long time--they've even been some found alive in a woman 2 weeks after being ejaculated inside of her!
This being said, it could take weeks to actually become pregnant after one sexual encounter. It could be that you were so early into pregnancy that your body had not produce enough of the hCG hormone yet.
If your period is usually exactly on time then you should be concerned, but some women have unhealthy periods where they go months in between them. If you usually have a long time between periods then you should speak to your doctor about that as well.
Purchase a home pregnancy test and test yourself occassionally if your period does not come. Some home pregnancy tests are better than others. According to a couple of studies done, First Response and Early Result Pregnancy Test are the two best kinds to purchase because they are slightly more sensitive than the others. You may want to pick up a couple of those for home usage.
Again, make an entirely new doctor's appointment for an entirely new pregnancy test. Let them know that you may have taken the other test too soon (or if you've had sex since then there is a good reason to have another one done) and would like another one taken. Request a blood test, but if you aren't actually paying it could be why they aren't doing it--blood tests cost more than urine testing.
It usually takes a two weeks or so for pregnancy symptoms to begin, such are sore breasts and such. Migraines may be coming from the stress you are experiencing over the late period. Stress can also cause dizziness, especially if you've changed your eating habits from so much stress. Your breasts may be tender because of the period upcoming.
It does very much sound like you had the implantation bleeding; however, it could have been something entirely different. Only a doctor can test you and find out really. If I were you, I would make an appointment with a doctor I had not seen before for a pregnancy test, and wouldn't disclose the fact that I recently had a pregnancy test at another clinic.
Stress can cause your period to be late for a few days so try to relax about it. You are very early into pregnancy if you are pregnant so give it a little time. Calm down and relax for a few days.
I hope things go well with you and you find a doctor to do another pregnancy test. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. [ Peeps's advice column | Ask Peeps A Question ]
