A contradiction?

Sorry you felt insulted in the chatroom; to tell you the truth, it bothers me (obviously, or I wouldn't be writing this).
I don't suppose that we'll ever be able to agree about politics, and that's fine. I find it particularly ironic, since you and I have very similar tastes otherwise; I'm a gamer and SF/fantasy geek too (you can check out my own gaming site at [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) ).
Having said that...there's something in your profile that seems self-contradictory:
"But if you insult me, chances are I'll just leave the chat or not reply to your email."
and
"I'm not going to waste my breath or fingers trying to tell an unhinged liberal why I think they're wrong."
"unhinged liberal"? It seems strange that you'd complain about being insulted, and then in the next sentence make a pretty nasty insult yourself.
It seems to me that you've been accusing liberals of doing things based not on what they're actually doing, but on what you've been TOLD they'll do to you by people like Rush Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, etc.
No one insulted you in the chatroom, after all, even after you said that we would. I'm not saying that there AREN'T liberals who will insult you; there are. But I have to say that I see that sort of behavior on all sides, and to be brutally honest there's a lot more of it coming from the right wing these days. After all, they've got almost ALL of talk radio, as well as the vast majority of TV pundit shows.
I'll stop myself here, because I really don't want to get into an argument with you; I know that there isn't much point. Which makes me sad. But in any case, please be aware that there are a lot of patriotic liberals and Democrats out here who don't hate you or America. In fact, we believe that what we advocate is BEST for America.
And, um, you might want to at least separate the "Don't insult me" sentence from the insulting one with another sentence or two. It will look less hypocritical that way. :D

If you can CALMLY tell me your OPINIONS, I'd be happy to respond likewise." I'm a member of serveral other sites, not all of them advice sites, et all. I said I don't know if the people who send me hate maile were from this site or not, so I just took down the thing to my email on them all. <i>Those</i> people are obviously unhinged. There's such a thing as an unhinged Republican, too, imho. I <i>do</i> have liberal friends, but none of them are the kinds of people who would dare sink to the level or shouting mindless insults via e-mail to someone the don't know. Same thing with my conservative friends. Maybe I ought to add that to my profile? ;) I don't mind people debating with me 0in fact, I love it- but on all the other sites I've been to, school, et all, I'm pretty used to the average democrat chewing me out and calling me horrible names...the worst I think I ever try to call anyone is an unhinged physcopath who needs mental help...and I call most of my friends that on a daily basis. (don't get me wrong- I lose my temper, I have insulted people, but I almost always feel terrible about it after I've calmed down)
And I never said anyone there insulted me, but when it was clear I was the only republican, I didn't safe. Like a man standing at a mark, with the whole army ready to shoot at him...sure, the army might not shoot, but it can't be the most comfortable of situation, neh? It's the sort of thing that makes me uncomfortable, to be more or less alone in my opinions, so I said it was probably <i>best</i> if I left, <i>before</i> someone went crazy. Someone might decide..."Hmm..now's a good time to let that proverbial arrow fly" or such a thought might never occur to them, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable since I can't tell what they're thinking...
In any matter, I hope that...made <i>some</i> sort of sense...what with my tendancy to ramble on and on and on and on and on...lol.
