I'm the person who asked what to do about a test if you don't know anything that's on it. Well I still can't/don't understand it. It's just too confusing to me. I still study it, but I thought about something. I might bring a cheat sheet and hide it and take the test, and if I am totally lost then I'll look at it, if not then I'll just answer the questions.
Is this bad? Well I know that it's bad, obviously, but if you just can't get all the studying done and don't understand everything what else can you do?? I tried everything everyone else told me to do and it isn't working.
If you still can't understand the lessons, try looking at the topics needed to be reviewed in your notes. Is there a list of people or things? Then you'll have to enumerate on the test. Is there an effect of a discovery, the significance of an object or a role of an individual or institution? Then you'll have to answer with an essay. Just try to analyze the lessons and study all over again.
If it dosen't benefit, try to talk to your teacher to help you out.
Hopefully you'll understand better. Good luck on your test!
Vikki27 answered Wednesday March 22 2006, 10:25 am: Well you have 3 options to consider here.
1) You go into the test and do the best you can. If you fail then you fail and you see if you can re-sit another time.
2) You can take the cheat sheet in, hope to god you don't get caught and risk the, usually extreme consequences if you get caught, at the same time compromising your potential future reputation as a good student.
3) You can go speak to a teacher. Explain that you're concerned because you don't feel you understand the material and is there any way they can help you by explaining it again or just giving you some tips with learning it.
Personally, I would recommend option 3. Teachers have a great respect for students that go to them when they are struggling. I know it might make you feel stupid to do it but at the end of the day, it's what they are there for and if you're not going to get them to help you learn then there's no point in them being there at all! Nobody will laugh at you and nobody will think your stupid. If you really want to pass this test, your best hope is to ask your teacher for a little extra help. Altruistic answered Wednesday March 22 2006, 12:53 am: have you tried one-on-one tutoring or studying with friends who understand the material? When i have a test in math, i would take the notes and problems my teacher gave us and go over them again and again; as in doing them over and over again until i understood it. Most tests you just need to memorize... ones where you need to understand, you should ask your teacher for help. I'm sure they'll be glad to help you do better in class.
Like people said, Cheating is NOT worth it. It may seem like the easy way out, but you're just hurting your own chances in college and such if you continously cheat and not understand what you're learning right now. [ Altruistic's advice column | Ask Altruistic A Question ]
NinjaNeer answered Tuesday March 21 2006, 9:37 pm: NOTHING is worth cheating for. In university, you can instantly fail a course if you're caught cheating. You don't want to get into the habit. In high school (which I'm assuming you're in) no test is worth enough that you should have to cheat on it. Just take a bad mark if you have to, because that's better than the zero you'll get if you get caught cheating. [ NinjaNeer's advice column | Ask NinjaNeer A Question ]
