one of the best ways to store files, i think, is on a usb flash drive (or if you wanna spend a little more and you have a lot of videos and music you want to save, you could get an external hard drive, i recommend getting it at compusa, it's cheaper). visually speaking, it's easier to drag and drop (or cut and paste) your files between a folder in one window and the usb flash drive in another window, than worrying about burning a bunch of discs.

if there are a bunch of programs that you want to have again after you've deleted everything, make a list of them in word or notepad. you can also use that document to keep track of the files you need to save/back up.

do you want to completely wipe out everything and totally start over with a clean slate? if you do, and you're running windows as your os, then email me and i can tell you how to do it step-by-step.

hope this helped.

If it is a windows, I might be able to help you. When you get your computer you have many programs installed on it, that you do not really need, so you can go into control pannel(from the start menu), then go to add or remove programs, and then you can remove all the programs you do not use, you can also save old documents onto a memory stick, or cd's. You should be able to save them onto cd's through a cd burning program on your computer, or there is another way: go to explore (by right clicking ure start button) and then you should be able to see the blank cd on the left menu it will say cd drive, and just drag and drop the items into that drive (you might want to hold the shift key down while doing it so it will make a copy of the folder, then delete it after you know that it has worked

I hope this helps!

i recently just had everything on my computer deleted because it was slow. my mom hired someone to take the computer for a day and take care of it. my mom had things saved in folders on a kingston card (one of those small rectangle things, teachers at my school wear them on thier ID keychain). they plug into the same thing that you would plug your ipod in to charge it. mine holds 128mb, you can buy them with different amounts. they really come in handy especially if you dont have a floppy thing!

well if you do it by yourself its hard and it might get messed up. I say call the geek squad they are really good or get someone from the company of the computer to help.
To transfer it onto a CD open up the documents then put a blank CD in, save the documents under the "my computer" section then click removealbe disc and then click save.
