How To Tend To Swollen Knee! Okay, my knee is terribly, terribly swollen. =( There aren't any (bone) structual problems, since I can walk. This just happened within the past 24 hours, so I will be watching it closely over the next few days.
What I need to know is:
1) Bathtime: hot water or cold water?
2) If showering it not the purpose, should I even bother soaking it? Would soaking it even be of any help?
3) Should I ice it, or is that a waste of time?
4) Keep it elevated, right? If so, how high does it must be?

If your knee suddenly became swollen for no reason you should see a Dr. There is probably nothing you can do at home to cure this condition as you may need antibiotics or other medication.
If you had an injury there is no way of knowing what damage was done without an x-ray or other diagnostic test.
Yes, stay off your feet. Elevate your legs on 2 pillows or in a recliner. Ice is your safest bet until you know exactly what's wrong. Apply ice 3-4 times a day for 20 minutes each. (wrap the ice in a towel)
You may take a warm bath (but not hot) about 105 degrees F. Just don't soak for a long period of time.
Depending on your condition the Dr will tell you if ice or heat is better, but to be safe always use ice when you don't know. ]
OK i recently tore a ligament in my knee and it was wicked swollen. However, i could still walk w/o putting much weight on the knee, so it's possible you did something more severe to it. Water temp doesnt make any difference. Yu wanna ice your knee for 20 minutes, take it off for 20 minutes, and then put it back on. Try this 3-4 times at night. Yu also wanna lay down, on your couch or something, and have yur leg elevated higher than your heart, so way above chest level. The higher yu can go w/o putting strain on the knee, the better. Please feel free to ask me any questions, ive learned so much about it haha. hope everything goes well<3 ]
With this i thinkyou should go to the doctor!!

I'm not sure about the water temp making a difference since even in the bath you should keep it elevated if possible.
Yes, ice it. It'll make the swelling go down a little at least. After you've iced it for about a day (with breaks of course) then start alternating heat and ice at intervals of about 20-30 min with 20 min breaks in between.
Elevation should be above or near the height of your heart. If you're laying down, that'll be a lot easier to do. However, if you're sitting up, just stick a large mound of pillows under your lower leg to hold it up. If you find that height uncomfortable, lower it. Exact height isn't important, but keeping some elevation to it and staying off it is.
Hope you feel better :) ]
