If you don't want to buy scar products, try going to Wal-Mart of Walgreens and buying Aquaphor. It's a brilliant skin product that can help soften scars (and skin in general) and works about 100 times better and faster than chapstick (in my personal experience). It's really amazing stuff- and it has so many uses that no one will know you're buying it for a scar. It looks a lot like vaseline, and comes in either a jar or a tube. just take a dab of it on your finger and massage it onto and into the skin you need it applied to. It sinks in relatively quickly, and is also a good moisturizer. I'm taking an acne medicine that dries my skin and makes my lips REALLY chapped, but I use Aquaphor and you can't even tell. :)
