my room is too cold!

Question Posted Sunday March 12 2006, 12:02 am

So right now I`m sick, and I think it`s because my room is just way too cold[and all these other things.]Anyways, I tried keeping my heater on for 10 mins and opening my room door to let the warmth of my house into my room. I have probably let my room open for 2 hours already, and it seems like it can`t get any warmer! It just gets soo cold in the morning & never seems to get any warmer. It`s driving me insane. Even my mom came into my room & said that my room was really cold. Do you have ANY idea how to make my room ALOT warmer then it is? It seems like my room is the coldest place in the house, besides the garage, and the garage is FREEZING. Thank you!

Boy that is a problem.

I have a water bed and believe it or not the heater in it keeps my room warm enough I don't even turn the heat on most days. But, you probably don't want to spend money on a new bed.

A cheaper thing would be to get an electric blanket. It won't help if you are just hanging around in there but, your bed would be warm for sleeping.

If you have central heating and your heat comes from a vent in the floor...make sure it isn't covered up with anything. Even having your bed sitting over it will keep the heat from spreading throughout your room. If that isn't the problem then have your dad or someone check it out and make sure there isn't something blocking it inside.

You can buy some long underwear and wear it under your clothes and even to bed. Get some nice woolly socks and slippers.

If there is cold air coming in around your window, you could cover them with plastic. Or, really heavy curtains.

Check and see if there is any air coming in from somewhere. Get a long incense stick (less dangerous than a candle), walk around with it stopping now and then to see if the smoke is blowing around. If you see it going anywhere but straight up...look and see if air is coming in and patch it up.

If all these things fail, you can get at Lowe's or home depot (any place like that), a heater for individual rooms. I'm not talking about the dangerous space heaters, these are actual electric heaters or base wall heaters and they work pretty good.

That's about all I can think of. Thank goodness winter is almost gone! Keep as warm as you can 'til then. :)
