since you guys are close, try talking to him about it. be upfront with the dude, ask him whats wrong, explain your differences. communication will surely solve the problem.
and PS- if hes upset at you for having a boyfriend, find out why. perhaps he has secretly liked you, or perhaps he's just a jerk.

I highly suggest you talk to him about it. If you dont tell him how you feel about your friendship, he won't just guess it on his own. Sit down , and just tell him everything you feel, and tell him how you want it to be like old times..
