okay, so i am a 13/f, and i wanna get my belly button pierced.
my parents said it was okay in the begining, but then my sister 16/f, didn't get it so now they are not allowing me for a few years.
so i wanna know what i can say to them to change their minds, or things that won't happen if i do get it pierced (they are afraid something bad will happen to me)
so pretty mucht he pro's not con's of getting it pierced, anything else about it will be apreciated!
thnx a bunch!
If you know people who have gotten it done, then that means they did it themselves, had a friend do it, or went to a piercer who was less than professional and let an underage person in.
If you go to a place that isn't professional enough to obey the law, then you never know if they will be professional enough to do certain things such as: clean their equipment, use new needles each time, use sterilized rings, etc.
If I am wrong, and it's legal to get a piercing done at 13, then sorry.
But, in order to convince your parents, you can't just ignore the cons of getting a peircing. You need to know what they ALL are and make sure you will be able to avoid them.
For example you need to realize that your peircing may get infected. In order to avoid that you need to know how to properly clean your piercing. You also need to realize that your piercing may get pierced slightly crooked. In order to avoid that you need to research the particular piercer and make sure you get someone who is very good at what they do to pierce you.
You need to find out everything you can about peircings in order to be mature enough to get one. After you do that, your parents may realize that you can handle one.

hopelessly_devoted answered Tuesday February 7 2006, 5:22 pm: pros:
-very cute
-you can show it off
cons:
-the cost of the peicing job itself, and the jewely
-infections if you get cheap jewelry
-if you dont like it after awhile, there will be a scar
-that is something your parents can take away if your in trouble (along with the tv and phone and such, you get my point)
so i would say wait a while, dont rush it because chances are you wont even like it after a while.
