My male ferret (6 mos old) seemed to be a little dispondant lately, so I decided to get a playmate for him. I bought a baby (2 mos old) boy for him to play with, but all that seems to have done is give him someone to push out of his hammock at night.
Any advice on how to get them to get along? Is the baby too little for him to play with, or is he just a jerkface? Should I try getting him a little girl to play with? Any advice will be (rated) appreciated.
Thanks

It's also just the way they play, ferrets play REALLY rough with each other. What you should do is keep your ferrets together, but add a second hammock and extra toys to keep the older one occupied with something other than the smaller ferret. Give the smaller ferret tubes and boxes that he can escape into as well as a second hammock! You'll have to keep doing this until he grows big enough to defend himself. :) [ fish34's advice column | Ask fish34 A Question ]

It said that age matters between them. especially if its a male and a male. There isnt anything you can really do. But if things get really out of hand and the older one starts to bite the younger one. Then you may want to get another like tiny cage. Because trust me i know how much ferret cages are and there not cheap! It also does depend on how long youve had the older one. He could just be a dominite of his cage. Im sure when time goes on he will gain to get used to having another one in the cage and grow to like the youngin!! So just keep a good eye on them.. And see what happens.
♥ If you need anything else i would suggest looking on google. Maybe try typing
ferrets and just read a little about them.. You never know what you could learn.! [ amandax33's advice column | Ask amandax33 A Question ]

a lot of male animals DON'T get along. They fight or keep distance from each other.
Like hamsters, its bad to keep two males together as they fight and one could end up injured or sometimes killed.
but dont worry this may not be the case.
If you decided to get a girl, there may be a chance you'll have baby ferrets running around in a few months time.
i suggest you keep an eye on them over the next couple of days for the safety of the baby one. they may adapt to each other, they may not, just keep an eye on them. Also i would advise you to go the pet store where you got your ferrets and ask about them, like what they like as surroundings and their attitudes towards other ferrets. Or maybe by a guide book? they are quite useful and tell you what to feed them and grooming aswell :)
Your older ferret may just be bored? If your hut/cage etc is big enough, make sure it has tubes/pipes and other play things in there but PLEASE MAKE SURE they are big enough for your ferret to go through, consider the size it will be fully grown aswell.
