Alin75 answered Wednesday January 11 2006, 8:14 pm: A couple of points first: 1. there is no way to target weight loss, humans are unable to do this. If you exercise your abs you build muscle there, thats all. To lose weight you need a general weight loss plan and you body will pull of fat cells from all over (the order its done in is NOT in our control).
2. Muscle does not turn to fat, nor does fat turn to muscle. One can lose fat and gain muscle or vice versa but conversion is impossible.
Now, to lose fat, the best form of exercise is resitance training, such as doing weights. This will boost your metabolism which running and other aerobics cannot do. Thus you burn calories around the clock. Doing a cardio as well as weights is obvioulsy even better.
Here is a link to a site that shows you how to work out your muscle groups: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Please dont waste your time targetting only certain areas, just train your whole body for much better and faster results.
Now, as for eating right, the first thing you got to do is to calculate how many calories you use. This is your basal metaboic rate (the cals that you use to stay alive) plus any activity... heres another link: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Keep track of what you eat, and cut your calorie intake so its a few hundred cals below what you burn.
Diets in general are not good. They key for long lasting effects is to eat sensible balanced meals, low on saturated fats, moderate (at most) on carbs, and high on greens. If you choose to weight lift, then add also high on protein.
Remember also to eat many small meals every day (this also helps boost your metabolism), and drink plenty of water.
As far a toning your body, you will get that effect from weights as the areas you train will tighten up a bit. A nice effect, not to be confused with actual fat loss.
Well, thats that. Good luck! [ Alin75's advice column | Ask Alin75 A Question ]
DancinCutie08 answered Wednesday January 11 2006, 7:49 pm: well when you are on diets you cant really control where you lose weight. i recommend either joining a gym or using a school gym.. i joined 1 for only 2 weeks and i used machines that worked the areas i wanted to work and i really had good results. just make sure you like loose weight from like running before you work out because when you work out that fat will turn to muscle or just go away but if you dont loose a few pounds before that all that muscle will return to fat [ DancinCutie08's advice column | Ask DancinCutie08 A Question ]
