scared to show up for work

Question Posted Thursday December 29 2005, 4:21 pm

My shift starts at 5 pm pacific time tonight at work and I am terrified to go. This is because on my last shift my boss lit into me for not having gotten some of the work done on Xmas Eve and that I had priced something wrong. It was not all my fault that the work hadnt been done that night because the store was so busy and I really did work my tail off, but because she wasnt there on Xmas Eve she couldnt have seen me working and now she thinks I'm a slacker.
She was SO hard on me, I mean she was drilling me why things hadnt gotten done and I seriously felt like I was on trial in a court of law for murder of somthing. Usually she is nice but when she's in a bad mood- watch out!
She did however say to me that she wasnt just singling me out and that there were 3 other girls on that night that she was angry with too.
I only get paid 55 cents more than minimum wage per hour and the job isnt that great, but still I would be really upset to get fired because I really like all the girls I work with.
My question is how can I relax tonight around my boss? Should I just act like nothing happened on boxing day and keep working hard?

Yeah... just keep working hard and eventually she'll see that you probably were just caught up in the chaos of the holiday season. Everyone is especially prone to making mistakes then. If you just keep going without an attitude, she'll realize that she was probably too hard on you and things will go back to normal.
