Question Posted Wednesday December 28 2005, 7:48 pm
I have been seeing a guy for a few weeks, but it's been a bit complicated - a week after we started dating, he found out he had cancer. He's had surgery and is on the road to recovery now, but I am worried that now he will only continue dating me because he feels obliged to as I was there when he needed me, rather than that he has an actual desire to be with me. I really like this guy but how can I figure out what is going on without offending him?? I'd rather have a broken heart sooner than later, so I'm keen to deal with this!

He didn't so lets assume he cares a lot about you!
That being said, I think you just need to talk to him about it if it is that big an issue for you. Part of a good relationship is talking to each other. I don't think he will be offended. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]

GoodAdvice24 answered Wednesday December 28 2005, 8:18 pm: Ok well first of all just talk to him. Dont make it sound like you dont trust him just tell him that you were happy that you helped him through his problem and he doesn't have to stay with you if he doesnt want to. Talk to him. Thats all I can say and If you word it right its NOT going to offend him. Hope I helped

Don't break up with him justyet if you feel shaky he really needs you. Even if it turns out to be for the wrong reason, you'll just prove that your the bigger person that you were there when he was ill and that you were there when he needed you most and that its was you who helped him to recover.
