I'm thinking of going on birth control, and I'm just wondering what works best. I've heard you can gain up to 15 pounds, and I really can't afford that (I'm an actress and a dancer). Also, I don't have a ton of money and I can't have my mom find out. Any cheap pills that don't have a million side effects?

All birth control has side effects. However, just because it has a side effect doesn't mean it will necessarily have one for you. I would visit your local health department or planned parenthood office. They can better explain your options and help you get the birth control that's right for you. They tend to be free or low-cost so it wouldn't be expensive for you. Just be aware that you may have to try a couple different pills before you get the one that's right for you. If you do have side effects, contact the person that prescribed them to you and they will usually switch you to a different kind. [ ncblondie's advice column | Ask ncblondie A Question ]
