curly hair

Question Posted Sunday December 11 2005, 9:05 pm

okay my hair is soo curly..ringlet curly, its kind've ridiculous haha =) well idk what exactly to do with it anymore cus everyone has like perfectly straight hair now. i did try straightening my hair but it looks stupid & i juss don't like it. it still curls. i think my hair has a mind of it's own!! i've been scrunching it before school cus i thought it looks cute & plus i don't have to dry it & damage it from the heat & i have more time to do other stuff. any ideas on anything else i can do?? if you want my column to see what it looks like juss tell me if you answer back.

thanks!!

I have naturally curly hair, also. I assure you, curly hair does have a mind of it's own. But, I went to the drugstore down the road and bought an at-home straightening kit. They're about $10, and they work just like a perm, only they straighten your hair. They last about 3 months, I'm on my 3rd right now. The kit does dry out your hair for a few days, but only because of the chemicals. If you use a leave in a conditioner for those couple of days, you'll have no problem what-so-ever. Just take it from someone who feels your pain :P

my hair's curly and i almost ALWAYS wear it curly b/c it takes 4 ever for me to straighten it. it used to make me sooo frustrated b/c everyone else has straight hair!! when it was straight it would wave and frizz but now i have a CHI iron and it works really well for me plus it doesnt fry my hair. but since you dont like your hair straight i would just wear it curly and accept it, its not goin anywhere!!

if you want to stand out and be unique, leave your hair curly because 1.) most girls have straight/straighten their hair. 2.) you will learn to love your hair because it is what god gave you and it would probably fit you best and 3.) if you want to try other style, try putting in a headband, or messy bun or ponytail or messy ponytail, or make up your own hairstyles and be creative!! goodluck!

hey i have the exact same curly hair you're talking about... i was sick and tired of it too, and wanted to straighten it like the other girls in my class... but it was just too difficult because of the extra curliness... so what i do is scrunch it with mousse, (not gel).. but the product does damage the hair after a while... pantene pro-v curl cream is extremely a great product to use only if you have a diffuser! also, my friends told me about a product from fructis that works.. but thats not what you asked..lol.. anyways, you can:
*twist the front in little twisties after you shower.. part your hair in half.. and do three twisties on each side of the part, and bobby-pin them halfway.. then at the bottom, you can scrunch your hair which will look absolutely gorgeous!..
*if you want more than just curl, shower, then french braid your hair at night.. (it doesnt have to look nice, as long as there are two french braids, and put a lot of mousse, and hairspray. then in the morning, take the braids out and your hair will be crimpy!! it looks soo awesome!
i hope i helped! if you want more tips, just ask!:d

Scrunching is definitely a good idea for you. You can play around with different looks while it's scrunched. Like headbands, half of your hair clipped back, little bobby pins on either side pulling the pieces away from your face.

You can french braid or braid your hair. I think either are pretty cute and easy to do. You can do it like Mary Kate Olsen:

good luck. A lot of people try doing fancy things with their hair...lol I find it easiest to either have it completely down. Or put completely up. But sometimes I have creative styles. Good luck ♥
