Question Posted Saturday December 10 2005, 10:11 pm
Today I went to a salon to get my hair dyed and they dyed it brown (exactly what i wanted!!) i was just wondering what i need to do to keep it this color. how long do i need to wait until i shower next, how to i keep the blonde highlights (from before) from showing up through the brown, what shampoo should i use, etc... thanks so much!

ThugGirl041790 answered Sunday December 11 2005, 10:52 am: If this is permenant hair dye the highlights shouldn`t show through.. *Most likely wont* i`ve never had a problem with it..Umm if the stylist didn`t suggest waitin so long til washing your hair then you can probably go ahead and wash it.. I mean she washed your hair so why wouldn`t you be able too.. You will probably need to get your roots done every couple months tho.. unless your natural hair color is brown.. ♥ Dez [ ThugGirl041790's advice column | Ask ThugGirl041790 A Question ]
EvilCheshire answered Sunday December 11 2005, 12:20 am: Sometimes the color will only last through so many washes. Normally if you go to a salon I'd give the color a good 2-3 months before it fades completely.
I'd wait a full 24 hours before showering so the color can set in.
The blonde highlights might fade before they even show up back through your color and you should use any kind of color treated shampoo you can find on the shelves. Garnier has a good one for color treated hair, I've used it before. [ EvilCheshire's advice column | Ask EvilCheshire A Question ]

Shortcake22 answered Saturday December 10 2005, 10:26 pm: Get a shampoo thats made for brunettes, such as John Friedas brilliant brunette or Pantene Pro V Brunette expressions. Or just get a color treatment shampoo. If you had a lot of highlights, chances are your color will fade a bit, but just go back in about 8 weeks and get it redone, and after 2 or more dye jobs it should be okay. Um you should be okay to shower anytime. You cant do much else to help from fading.
charmed3fanatic answered Saturday December 10 2005, 10:25 pm: hehe i've been through this a lot! okay so what you do is don't take a shower until 24 hours after you got your hair done. your highlights from before will not (WILL NOT) show up through your brown because i'm guessing she dyed your hair brown again .. if not then she is an idiot (not really but that woudl be really stupid because 3/4 of your hair woudl then be blonde) but anwayyy... know what you want to do is use soemthing with color treated.. my highly recommend pantene pro-v color revival it will make your highlight not fade back to brown etc. hope i helped anyting else just let me know =] [ charmed3fanatic's advice column | Ask charmed3fanatic A Question ]
xXxpinky615xXx answered Saturday December 10 2005, 10:25 pm: Well first of all, it should have been permanent dye. If it wasn't then the color will fade in a few days.
Permanent dye has reached the point in advanced technology that it WON'T fade on you anymore.
As for what shampoo and/or conditioner to use, always use something that says on the bottle "For Color Treated Hair" Such as the following products:
