(15/f) Okay well I'm an alto and I'm singing a solo in Italian and my highest note is a high F but I can't reach it without struggling. I do voice warm-ups but I can't reach it.
Does anyone know how I can get my voice higher without making it crack or sound horrible?
thanks in advance!

Sing higher songs and just practice over and over, but have a good time with it. The more you use your voice, the stronger it will get. Sing songs you like in the shower and wherever else you feel comfortable. Remember this though: some people just can't sing as high as others. Their voices just can't do it. You can stretch it a little but don't expect to be singing a high A or anything. An F is a lot higher than most can sing anyways so don't worry about it too much and good luck! Hope I helped!!
Good Luck!! [ x0oLoViNiTo0x's advice column | Ask x0oLoViNiTo0x A Question ]
Nevaeh314 answered Monday December 5 2005, 7:49 pm: How long is the note held out for, and are you singing it for solo & ensemble? I have the same problem just about every year.
Try a bit of lemon juice in water, it seems to do the trick. Practice breathing from your diaphragm (don't let your shoulders rise up at all) and make sure you have the right embuture (sp?) ask your vocal instructor to monitor the way that you're breathing and your vowel placement when you go up to the F. Even if it doesn't seem like it, its your breathing that almost completely controls your range.
If you play a musical instrument, one that requires air to be forced through it, play it for 20 mns before you sing your solo. Seriously. I can normally hit an E without trouble, I can hit an A after playing my clarinet for a bit.
Drink tea. Preferably something minty.
If none of that works, go falsetto (your head voice). It sounds a bit airy but it's better than not hitting the note.
Hope this helps, good luck.

But ask I noticed, you might also wanna blow your nose before singing because it sort of helps, sounds kind of dorky...But anywho.
Atleast you can get to an F, I can only get to a C, thats why I am an alto.
But good luck, and I hope you find something that will help you. [ souless_breath's advice column | Ask souless_breath A Question ]
